Technology can be a treat to the music industry but can’t bring an end to it. In my opinion this is like saying cinema or dvd would bring an end to the movie industry.
There has always been treat on the industry especially the time when the cassette and Compaq disc emerged everyone thought it would start been the end of the industry. But downloadable sites like limewire have actually helped, It gives artist the opportunity to be heard and get there music shared to greater part of the world and this promotes them, it also makes people think who is that guy let me get out and buy his album. People who can’t afford would rather download free than go to the shop and pay but hardcore fans of an artist who wants quality with the album cover still intact would go to the shop.
Furthermore technology is vastly improving and influential and this would just be more of a weapon for the industry to make more money e.g ringtones.

You make some decent points here, particularly the about the alternative revenue streams like ring tones and in game music. However there are a few careless errors here. I assume you mean a threat rather than a treat and the little digital audio discs are not made by Compaq!
