Are youth subcultures genuine signs of revolt or simply the manifestation of style?

Youth are mainly present when there is problem and people are needed to be blamed this topic can either be a sign of revolt or manifestation of style, to me youth subcultures are a sign of revolt because youths are trying to copy friends and be cool just to get along or be respected so they think they have to join a force. Example is the skin heads this is a main subculture individuals tend to join to be racist or be fearful to others.
Also been a manifestation of style this could be seen as a kind of style a kid grows up to like either the type of music he listens to or watches, he likes what the rappers are wearing and sees they are with bunch of girls and seem cool but as a fan he goes out and want to buy the same thing he saw and just wants to be different from others and from their he keeps wearing it and either grows out of it or live to die with that style

does technology signal the end of the music industry

Technology can be a treat to the music industry but can’t bring an end to it. In my opinion this is like saying cinema or dvd would bring an end to the movie industry.
There has always been treat on the industry especially the time when the cassette and Compaq disc emerged everyone thought it would start been the end of the industry. But downloadable sites like limewire have actually helped, It gives artist the opportunity to be heard and get there music shared to greater part of the world and this promotes them, it also makes people think who is that guy let me get out and buy his album. People who can’t afford would rather download free than go to the shop and pay but hardcore fans of an artist who wants quality with the album cover still intact would go to the shop.
Furthermore technology is vastly improving and influential and this would just be more of a weapon for the industry to make more money e.g ringtones.

Can popular music be unplugged

In this current day and age, to find totally unplugged music would be a challenge, much has evolved through the years and this includes music. The revolution of music have caused both music and technology to merge together, becoming hand in hand to form popular music.
Technology sells music, a studio set up is based on the extensive use of electronics such as pianos, microphones and vocal enhancers.
Music has evolved so much, it has become unimaginable to picture it without technology, popular music has become increasingly reliant on its usage to a point whereby the more technology/effects used the more successful you become as an artist. An example of this is the current popularity of the use of auto-tune, used by artists such as T-Pain & Kanye West (originally popularized as 'talk box' used by Stevie Wonder). In these current times it would be hard to find unplugged music (yet alone pop music) with the popularity of concerts, music videos and increased lip-syncing.
Places in which you can find music in it's rawest forms ('unplugged') is probably in churches and schools, although it is debatable whether this would be classified as 'popular music'.

World music

This is a hard one to explain because world music has got different range of track but In my opinion world music is a cultural type of sound that consists of lyrics and different age and group of individuals enjoy from different societies like English, African Portuguese or every other social groups.
World music is more traditional than commercial because it takes a certain individual to be interested in it because mostly you have to do a dance to match it and listen to the way the drums are been played whereas commercial music could be listened to by anyone as far as its got lyrics and sound track behind it. This type of music is gotten so popular that it’s also in shops used as a marketing franchise like pop and rap music, with all this it can only serve as an original way in bringing cultures and people together to enjoy different type of music.

Is popular music a mass produced commodity or a genuine art form.

The structure of popular music is standardized even when the attempt is made to circumvent standardization. Popular music could be both mass produced and a genuine art form, in the past when music was made the artist worked hard in making this music for the people to listen to and that was the genuine art part of it because art is a creative part which engages and brings individuals together and that’s the same as a genuine music.
Music could also be said to be mass produced because in the modern day artist do not care if its liked or not as far as they make profit from it that’s why mostly old tunes are reinvented to suit and artist been it a beginner that his manager advised him to use it as a breakthrough in the industry or just because he got an inspiration from listening to it, so they get ideas from it and produce it as their own. But in my opinion I think popular music is music of any genre that has lots of followers.
