Youth are mainly present when there is problem and people are needed to be blamed this topic can either be a sign of revolt or manifestation of style, to me youth subcultures are a sign of revolt because youths are trying to copy friends and be cool just to get along or be respected so they think they have to join a force. Example is the skin heads this is a main subculture individuals tend to join to be racist or be fearful to others.
Also been a manifestation of style this could be seen as a kind of style a kid grows up to like either the type of music he listens to or watches, he likes what the rappers are wearing and sees they are with bunch of girls and seem cool but as a fan he goes out and want to buy the same thing he saw and just wants to be different from others and from their he keeps wearing it and either grows out of it or live to die with that style
